Wedding Stylist | Help and Advice

Finding the perfect hairstyle can be quite daunting and needs to be as perfect as your dress. It may be a good idea to collect as many ideas and pictures as you can and forward them to me.

Look for hairstyles that will suit you. Your hair should complement your dress, for instance an intricate neckline would work well with an up-do, whereas a low-cut neckline would look good with hair down. Bear in mind a complicated up-do can be a challenge to keep in place all day long without overloading the hair with products and pins which can become uncomfortable.

Also consider weather and your wedding location, a well structured bun is a good choice for a seaside wedding in April, while a glam down would keep your neck warm in cooler climates.

Have your first trial about now. Bring along any hair accessories, veils and jewellery too. A picture of your dress would be advisable. At your trial wear a white vest with a similar neckline to your dress to help give a good overall result.

Try to keep your hair well maintained with conditioning treatments. In the long run they will improve elasticity and shine.

3 Weeks to go...

If you colour your hair, use a good shampoo and conditioner to keep it fresh and vibrant. Have new colours done, to allow time to settle but not fade. Be careful having a colour change this close in case you dislike it and it needs correcting.

Have your final trim to keep the ends neat and tidy.

Depending on your hair type, I would usually recommend washing your hair the day before your wedding, to give it time to settle. Then in the morning I can dampen the hair before styling. If you have a grease-prone hair, wash it in the morning and I can apply some products to manage the texture.
